Why VIG Guide exists
Vacuum Insulated Glass (VIG) is a distinct glazing technology with its own physics, its own supply chain, and its own specification trade-offs. It does not sit cleanly inside a generic architectural-glass encyclopedia: the comparison points that matter for VIG — rebate depth, panel size limits, pillar visibility, frit-seal durability — are not the same as the points that matter for float, tempered, or laminated glass. VIG Guide exists to give the technology its own dedicated reference.

VIG Guide content is built on four sources of evidence: manufacturer specifications and datasheets, technical standards (ISO, EN, ASTM), independent test reports where they exist, and first-hand factory research where it is feasible. Where manufacturer claims differ, the comparison is surfaced rather than smoothed over — these pages exist to compare, not to sell.
Numbers cited as manufacturer-reported are taken from the manufacturer's own datasheet or test report. Numbers cited as typical are an editorial summary across multiple products and should be treated as a starting point, not a specification.
