Editorial Policy

The standards that govern what VIG Guide publishes, how sources are attributed, and how conflicts between sources are surfaced.

Sources of evidence

Every quantitative claim on VIG Guide is traceable to one of the following sources, listed in order of confidence:

  1. International standards (ISO, EN, ASTM)
  2. Independent test reports from accredited laboratories
  3. Manufacturer specifications and datasheets (labelled manufacturer-reported)
  4. Industry-wide typical ranges (labelled typical)

Attribution conventions

Manufacturer-reported values are taken from the manufacturer's own published datasheet or test report. Typical values are an editorial summary across multiple products and should be treated as a starting point, not as a specification.

How conflicts between sources are surfaced

Where manufacturer-reported figures disagree with independent test results, both are shown side by side with the source. VIG Guide does not hide conflicts in the interest of presenting a single clean number — comparing claims is the point of the site.

Updates and versioning

Published pages are revised when material new information becomes available. Material corrections are logged at Corrections with a date stamp. Minor corrections (typo fixes, link fixes, format cleanup) are made silently.
